TASTE
Barley porridge. Since getting back from India and going through panchakarma (a two week detox) I have been doing my best to follow the guidelines that my doctor sent me home with. I am reducing my meat intake and eating lots of soupy things. This is my breakfast:
1 cup of organic barley
1 can of organic full fat coconut milk
1 cup of water
1 date
1 clove
1 heavy dash of cinnamon
Put all of this in a pot, bring to a boil, reduce heat and let it simmer for 30-45 minutes depending on the type of barley you have. Add your choice of fruit at the end, Im doing blueberries.
*Food News* There is a new home-cooked Indian food delivery concept, Tiffin. They are delivering meals to Bed-Stuy and Bushwick for under $20. They are also planning to start pick up stations in other neighborhoods.
SEE
All the Way to the River by Elizabeth Gilbert
A book about death, love, addiction, love addiction… written by Elizabeth Gilbert, yes that is who wrote Eat Pray Love. A friend gave me this book right at the end of my travels. It helped me to see that everyone is here to teach me something during my time on this earth which she calls “Earth School”.
TOUCH
My new heavy garnet mala has been a grounding tool for my morning japa meditations ever since Tony gifted it to me in Rishikesh, India. Garnet is for the root chakra (Muladhara) and symbolizes Śiva, who represents destruction of ignorance.
HEAR
Puma Blue’s New Album Croak Dream. Learn more about Jacob’s world here.
SMELL
From David Elliott’s own garden, this sweetgrass is what I burn before and after my breathwork classes.

TASTE
Wooden Spoon Herbs’ Magic Magnesium: Delicious. Fun to look at. Magnesium and Spirulina and electrolytes.
SEE
A friend. Lizzy and I have been coworking almost every day and it’s crazy how much happier it makes me to do computer work over a coffee sitting next to her.
TOUCH
My skin because I dry brush now. Any dry brush will do. I dry brush in upwards strokes from my ankles, up my legs, in clockwise circular motions around my stomach, up the sides of my rib cage towards my arm, up my arms, down my traps. This is a routine I’ve easily adopted and do before I shower when I remember. I enjoy the ritual of it and beyond the lymphatic and circulatory benefits, my skin has become noticeably softer.
HEAR
The birds at Hunter Island. I recently went to Orchard Beach, aka the Bronx Riviera, and was surprised by this small oasis of natural trails, little islands, and so many birds. Squint hard enough while sitting on one of the many large rock formations and you might even think you’re in Maine or Nantucket.
